Director, Division Of EMS
Marianne has been involved with EMS for over 30 years, first beginning as a BLS crew member with Bushkill Emergency Corps. In 1979, she completed her EMT certification and became a member of Bethlehem Twp. Volunteer Fire Company. In 1983, she graduated from the Sacred Heart Paramedic Program under the Medical Directorship of Dr. George Moerkirk. In 1986, she graduated from the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing while beginning her career in Emergency Nursing. Over the years, Marianne has also worked with several EMS organizations through out the region. In 1999, Marianne joined the Emergency Medicine Institute as a part time program coordinator for the Network's Simulator Lab. She now serves dual administrative and operational responsibilities with the EMI and the Division of EMS. Marianne brings with her a background in Emergency, Trauma and Flight Nursing as well as remaining active in EMS as a PHRN and Paramedic.
Medical Director, GEM-Emergency Medicine Institute
Dr. Tomsho has been involved with EMS for 20 years, working as both an EMT and later as a Paramedic in Berks County. During his EMS career, he earned a Master of Science degree in Physiology from The Pennsylvania State University as well as his medical degree from the University of New England, College of Osteopathic Medicine. In 2009, Dr. Tomsho completed his 4 year residency in Emergency medicine at LVHN. He has been the medical director at the GEM- Emergency Medicine Institute since 2010 and also serves as medical director for EMI’s EMT, Paramedic, and PHRN courses. In addition, Dr. Tomsho is the medical director for Hamburg EMS, and Hamburg Fire department. Currently, he also is the Site Director for LVHNs Sacred Heart Hospital's Emergency department where he also works clinically as a board certified Emergency Medicine Physician.
Kerry has been involved in EMS since 1993. Kerry came to EMI in January 2009 after working for the Eastern PA EMS Council for almost 16 years. Kerry has been certified as an EMT since 1994 and as a Nationally Registered Paramedic since 2010. At EMI, Kerry is the American Heart Association Training Center Coordinator and coordinates all of the Network BLS Classes as well as the ATLS Courses, PHTLS, and Prehospital Continuing Educations sessions that are held twice a month at our Cedar Crest and Muhlenberg locations as well as EMI.
Cassie began her passion for EMS and medicine at a young age of 15 when she became a junior volunteer at her local fire company and ambulance station. Cassie completed her EMT in 1998 in Pottsville, PA and began actively volunteering for Penn Mahoning Ambulance and West Penn Fire Co. No. 1. Furthering her passion for medicine, Cassie became a certified nurse’s aide through the American Heart Association in 2001. She then completed her Associates Degree in Nursing from Lehigh Carbon Community College in 2008 while working at Blue Mountain Health Systems, Gnaden Huetten from 2003- 2013. Following her passion to expand her career, Cassie joined the Lehigh Valley Health Network in 2013 as an Emergency Department nurse followed by becoming an ED Core Trauma Nurse. Cassie has received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the Pennsylvania College of Health Science in 2016. She is also a PHRN and a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant. Cassie joins EMI as the Network’s A.H.A PALS Coordinator, ACLS instructor and PHRN instructor. Cassie will continue to do more for the health network as well as our local emergency medical system.
Doug has been involved with emergency services for over 30 years, starting as a volunteer firefighter with Fogelsville FD. Doug Became an EMT in 1995 and started as a volunteer with Cetronia Ambulance. Additionally, Doug has worked for Northwestern EMS, Slatington and Northampton EMS as a volunteer. Graduating Paramedic school in 2005, Doug went to work full time for Northampton Regional. Currently Doug is working with both Northampton and Allentown EMS. Prior to coming to EMI Doug taught for Northampton Area Community College in the Emergency Services program, serving as the administrator for ACLS, EMT, First Responder classes as well as BLS Skills Review.
Christine has worked in the Lehigh Valley Health Network for more than 22 years and joined EMI in 2008. Christine oversees the administrative operations of the department including registration and billing.
Mary Ellen has worked in the Lehigh Valley Health Network for more than 33 years and joined EMI in 2010. Mary Ellen oversees the administrative operations of the department including registration and Continuing Education.
